How We Often Try to Justify our Sin before Christ

Holy Word BibleHow many people do YOU know personally who are SPIRITUALLY BLIND to the TRUTH and follow instead an image of GOD in their OWN mind who is OK with sin and doesn’t care if you follow Him in Spirit and Truth?

Matthew 15:14-18 (KJV) 14 Let them ALONE: they be BLIND LEADERS of the BLIND. And if the blind LEAD the blind, both shall FALL into the ditch. 15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. 16 And JESUS said, Are ye also yet WITHOUT understanding? 17 Do NOT ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they DEFILE the man.

I often hear professed Christians ignorantly say things like “I think my God would have a sense of humor about that“, OR “I think my God would be OK with that” even when what they are trying to justify IS SIN itself! Many I hear often state “We’ll if I am wrong about a few things, God will show me after I die.”

Yet I am troubled why it appears that so many of these professed Christians aren’t CONCERNED nor do they seem to CARE about being corrected by His Word while they are still alive on this earth today. Why is it at times there is such a lack of discernment amongst His sheep? Is it not of utmost importance that we are pleasing to God in all things now? But just like a rebellious child however many of us simply don’t want to be corrected. I can remember my own struggle with the flesh years ago and its not like any of us are immune to that struggle even today as a Christian.

Nonetheless, do we have a second chance to “get it right” once we pass on? Clearly in my Bible it doesn’t suggest any such thing and sadly those who think otherwise are clearly fooling themselves. Hebrews 9:27-28 (KJV)

Often times we read His Holy Word but do not heed His warnings in turning away from that which God says He clearly detests and views as an abomination. When does MAN think for God? The only way we KNOW God is to be in His Word so we receive instruction in righteousness and KNOW if we are LIVING according to His will and purpose. 1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV) For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

As Christians, we only need to go back and read the Old Testament to see that God smote a whole people for their deliberate disobedience. He didn’t laugh as if it was no big deal when they were in “error” or look the other way in being TOLERANT to flat out ignorance once the truth was revealed to them. Matthew 23:15 (KJV) Nowhere in Holy Scripture do I see it recorded where God said “Oh those silly Pharisees, graven image and idol worshippers…they crack me up every time but all is well, I really don’t mind their rejection of me“. John 8:24-25 (KJV)

REALLY? Make no mistake, our God is not amused. Matthew 23:33 (KJV) Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)

If we say we are followers of Jesus Christ where is the proof? Are you clinging to a God of your own making who is tolerant of the sin in your life when the TRUTH has already been revealed to you in His Word in pointing out that error? How much better it is to be pleasing to God rather than to ourselves or a man made religion or man in general. How can we profess to know Him if we are not in His Word daily?

Rather test yourself to be sure you are not living for the world instead of Christ.
2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV)

YES Jesus Christ is just to forgive our sins but His Word also tells us to repent in Acts 3:19 (KJV) when we sin and still make a sincere attempt to turn from that which God hates even if it is difficult at times. We’ve all been there, including myself. It’s not a “free” get of jail card just by stating you are a Christian. It’s not a pass to keep on sinning. We will all struggle with sin because we are imperfect but we should feel the need to repent daily of that sin because it is THAT sin which nailed our Savior Jesus Christ to the cross. And if a person doesn’t feel the sincere desire or conviction to repent of their sin, they might want to ask themself if they were ever really born-again to begin with at all?

I pray this message gives everyone pause. These are certainly tough questions that we should be asking ourselves daily.

  1. Well said and Amen! I just had this same thought conversation last night at bible study. How much out of balance the church has gotten…loving people to hell instead of stating God’s truth. May all who read this go before God and ask Him to search our hearts and reveal to us the blindness of our walk.

Romans 10:17 KJV
